Sport

The modern word SPORT evolved from the Wendish word "sprt" that means "in conflict".

It is clear that in rough times many thousand years ago nobody didn't perform "sport" in a modern way. Nobody exercised for pleasure and fun then. Life was tough and there were just work and fight for life. The people who got "in conflict" (sprt) did fight for the cause.

The word "sport" is nowadays used much wider to express all kind of body exercise but initially, sport only meant a fight between two men or two groups with the goal of winning.

Roman name Spartacus is, in fact, the word "sp(o)rtnik" (sportsmen) and not someone's personal name.

Sparta is, in fact, the name for people with great success in fights and battles and evolved from the same word "sprt" or "sprta".

The word "sprt" is still used in the same form and with the same meaning in modern Slovenian language which is the best preserved Wendish language in our today's world.
